Hi I am going to rent some lights this weekend to use with my D60. Any suggestions? I would love to hear what everyone else uses. I will be shooting portraits with a dark background. I have heard that some strobes are dangerous due to the polarity?

I did a fashion shoot a few weeks back in an “emergency”. The hired photographer was a no show so I did a fill-in. We had seven models and shot about 2,000 images for a spring/summer wholesale catalog.
The session was setup in a studio with three Photogenic 1,500 W/S strobe units that I believe rented for about $100/day. I didn’t even bring my own gear just used what that had for this emergency call. I set the strobes in a standard configuration; one main, one fill, and one hair light. Stop the fill down by only one stop as they wanted simple full wrap lighting.
