I'd like to see the thing before being cut in half. I'm having a hard time "seeing" the layout of that lens. It looks like a camera body directly in back facing this way...so why does the lens look sideways?

Ahhh...no wonder, it's THIS camera. Now it makes sense.

Great camera! I have one, gave to the wife, and yes, the Pro1 has an "L" lens.

I was wondering where the mirror box was, and also looking for a little red blob top and bottom - the red ring in transverse section - and then it started all looking a bit flaky. Is this really a cut in half camera or a model someone put together?

I've seen quite a few images like this of electronic items cut in half using abrasive water jets :D
Bored engineers ;)

just out of curiosity, would an Abrasive water jet do a good job cutting up a body??
Hmmmmmm.... Are they portable? do they make alot of noise? Im just thinking, water wont hold a print or DNA like say... a saw or hatchet now would it?
lol

LOL yeah ;) they will cut through almost anything apart from tempered glass and laminates can sometimes cause a problem, but they usually are quite big with a footprint about the size of a pool table or larger. Something like this http://www.waterjets.org/waterjet_pictures/waterjet_components_small.jpg
BTW, i did a whole project and presentation on them while at university, i'm not just a fountain of useless knowledge :p lol
edit: if you want to see other random things cut into pieces here are a couple links...

Oddly, I have the means to do just that.....
..... but there's no way that I'm going to cut my lens in half. :)

Well, I was considering using my circular saw, or the Sawzall - it'll cut anything!

The Pro-1 does have an "L" lens.
This is the same image that is shown on DPReview.com's review of the Pro-1.
