Hi!

I've been trying to find the diferences between the EOS300D and the Rebel...what are the diferences? Why does Canon sell two identical (...as far as I know...) digital SLRs?

Are any of these SLRs worth buying when owning a G3?

Thank's! :)

There is no difference. It's the same camera. The Digital Rebel is the USA name and 300D is the european name (and Digital Kiss is the japanese name). Same camera, 3 markets, 3 names. It happens the same with the equivalent film cameras.
Regarding the G3, to me the answer is yes if you want the ultimate image quality, but don't mind postprocessing most of the shots, and remember any SLR camera (digital or not) will have much shallower DoF than digicams (you can compensate this using smaller apertures).
Also, the learning curve is steeper than in a digicam.

There is actually one big difference between the 300D and the Digital Rebel... the little name plate on the front of the camera reads "300D" on one and "Digital Rebel" on the other.

Sheeze... in a forum where so many people are concerned about "black" vs. "Silver" camera bodies, I am surprised on one was all over this difference yet!

And for the "kidding around" impaired...

:D

This camera has three names - Kiss, 300d and Eos Rebl. It depends which region of the world that you buy it in.

Actually, EOS Rebel belongs to a Canon film camera.

The EOS Digital Rebel is the new digital one that is the same as the 300D.

Warranty is your biggest concern. Don't buy a 300D if you are in the US.

Correct?

Sort of...you can get an int'l warrantee. I have no experience there. I have never had a problem with any camera I have owned. I have a 4+ yr old Canon EOS 50E 35mm camera and going on 1 yr old (end Apr) Canon EOS 10D. Both work great. I would advise against grey market stuff like a not intended for the US camera.

Cheers from England,

True... The warrantee kinda sucks anyway. One year is pretty weak.
