Inspired by one of Athena's shots and remembering some pictures I had seen in a photo magazine I decided I'd try some shots of peppers. I had already bought some ahead of the weekend but needed to get some white perspex to make a base and background. Managed to get some at the weekend, by which time the subject for the WWPD had been announced as 'Orange'. In the supermarked, what should I see but a pack of peppers which included some orange ones. More money, and a roll of the eyes  from my wife but they went into the trolly.
If you're still awake at the end of the story, here's one of the shots that resulted.

Yeah, I get the "eye rolling" thing whenever I do anything a little odd too - "you're messing with that camera again, aren't you?"
Great product shot there, Mark. Maybe a touch over-lighted on the yellow one, the colour looks a bit flat there, but granted there's not much to play with there.
A lovely ensemble and well arranged.

Thanks Pete :D
I did have a slave flash to left of shot to try to achieve a bit of modelling but I don't think it was powerful enough. I might see if I can burn in a bit of detail in the yellow pepper. Hmm.

voice of experience says clone it in. ;)
I remember being very surprised by how reflective peppers are - quite frustrating. Did you diffuse the flashes Mark?

Thanks for the advice Athena. (Not sure if my pp skills are up to it though - could be good experience )
Peppers seem to be very reflective. I've shown this shot to several people and I've been asked if I had oiled them before the shot. All I did was wash and dry them carfully.
And no, I didn't diffuse the flashes. I thought of diffusing the camera flash but left it in the end. The slave flash set to the left was a low power unit. Probably too low.

Maybe you should powder them!
Just kidding.
I know nothing about lightboxes. What's your setup?

Thanks BillsBayou
I actually just set up a very basic two 'walls' and base to use as background rather than using a lightbox and then cut out the peppers in pp afterwards :o
I do intend to make a lightbox using that perspex in the longer term.
I took a pic of the setup on my old P&S - I'll post that when I get a chance.
nice colors ~
Thanks Minifalsh :D

Looks nice! How did you get the background to look like that?
