Can any of you guys recomond a good photo hosting site that allows linking (so I can show off photo's on forums.)
Free service would also be a good thing

The most popular seems to be Pbase.
www.pbase.com
I however think it is better to bite the bullet and set up your own website. It takes about 4 hours of reading / searching the web for tutorials but the ultimate control is better.

www.fotopic.net is another option. Free, 250MB of space and they allow posting of images directly into forums.

I use www.fotki.com, it's a $30 a year for unlimited storage, and you can link them.
I used to use www.webshots.com, but their free portion is too small, and for the same $30 you get limited space.

Make sure you read the fine print on these sites.
From an email over on photo.net this morning:
"As a condition of membership, you hereby grant Webshots a perpetual, universal, nonexclusive right to copy, display, modify, alter, transmit and distribute any materials provided by you to the Webshots community."
So they can do anything with your photos, forever.

fotopic.net is free? I'm going to have to check them out. I use my limited web space provided by my ISP, but its bound to run out soon if I keep hanging around the photographers. :D

I've been using pbase for awhile and am quite happy. They have been having a few troubles this past week on allowwing direct links but they seem to be working through this.
I ran across another on the weekend call www.photobucket.com . Haven't checked them out too much but seems like you get a fair chunk of free disk space.

I host my own pictures on a webserver I lease, but if someone had to start out from scratch, I would highly recommend pbase (http://www.pbase.com/). It's a lot less grief, they have fast servers, and they have great looking style sheets available to their clients. I would not rent out space and bandwidth on my server for the little bit pbase charges (http://www.pbase.com/pricing.html) for their plans.

With many email accounts, the ISP gives X MB of web storage capacity. As long as you are not trying to run a commercial web site with transactions, this is a good option.
The disadvantages are that you typically do not get your own domain name, and you have to construct your own pages. In the old days, that construction was a real PITA, but there are many free or cheap programs that will do it now.

Yo,
Photobucket compresses all pictures to under 250K, so that is a downside to them. :(

I just checked out Photobucket and it looks like a great freebie solutions for posting images to forums. It even lists the linking codes 3 different ways for ease of use. Cheers to Photobucket for making this a free service (so far).
Here's a demo album link I found inside Photobuckets forums.

I asked the same question some weeks ago and someone recommended (BytePhoto.com) they are free for up to 100 pic's, can't remember the MB size. So far it works well. There are larger membership options for a fee. The fee's aren't too much. I may go with the next size a paid membership.. Around $20 par yr. Try it its free and easy to use.
