You can't help but notice that there are loads of comments and references concerning the merits of a black or silver cameras.

I want to come clean on this I could NEVER buy a silver one.

The reason for this is very simple, when I finally took the plunge into auto focus and gave up my old and very battered couple of Pentax MXs I bought a Canon EOS1. This was Black and had the word Canon in white above the lens, I then bought a Canon EOS 1N, again Black with the word Canon in white above the lens, I then took the plunge into digital and bought a D60, again (your getting this now) Black and a white Canon over the lens. Very shortly (I hope) I shall be getting a 1D Mk II, which will be Black with a white Canon.

The beauty of this is, that as far as my wife is concerned, it has always been the same camera. No expense has been incurred and we are both happy (the only thing I have to watch out for, is that I don't leave more than one out at a time).

She did notice when I suddenly started to use white lenses but I told her the white ones we less expensive than the black, as they didn't have to paint them.

So to kill the Black verses Silver argument, the above is the only reason that I can think of for anyone to differentiate on colour (color if you prefer).

BTW My wife isn't daft, I am sure she knows really, but it all helps to keep harmony in the house.

Oh man! I had a Minolta XG-1 (silver), a Canon AE-1 (silver), a Nikon N-65 (silver, are you seeing a trend?) and now a Digital Rebel.

I too am wanting a 1D mkII. But what can I do?? What can I tell the LOML?

I know! As the camera ages, it tends to darken. Kind of like cherry wood. Yeah, that will work. It has to work. 8)

You've been duped again. The US version of the 1D Mk II is going to be silver and is going to be called the Rebel Magnum. The grip is going to be electric blue faux patent leather.

Maybe she won't notice.

I'll tell you, if you can buy a 1D Mk II without your wife noticing any changes on you account, then you must be doing really good financially and you have my respect for that. I could not pull something like that- wife is CPA and she manages the accounts. :-))

Why lie to your wife? Just tell her its to take better pictures of her and that they magically make her look more and more like a supermodel.. :)
