We were out with the work this weekend and I wanted to test my new A80... About 200pics taken that evening :-)
I like to use long shuttertimes in combination with flash, gives a nice "float" in the pics.

I like the movement with the light. It adds a very nice effect.
You've got some major red-eye happening in alot of the shots. I personally would always fix that before posting.

I would normaly too...
...if it wasn't for 140shots and no one at work realy cares :-)
Is it because the space between the brackets and the adress in my first posting that causes the links to be links and not images in the frame?

how come the people are sharp and the lights leaves trails like that when you where moving the camera, its a phenomena that i never been able to solve myself.
What i mean is that if i try to take the exam same photo the people will leave trails and be all blury.

The images show up as links and not images within a frame because you linked to the html file containing the foto. To sort it:
- Open one of those links
- right click on the image and choose properties
- copy the URL shown there (should end in .jpg)
- edit your initial post ('edit' button) and use that as the URL to post the images.
In this specific case, it's enough changing "pages" to "images" and "htm" to "jpg" in the URL, so that
http://ide01.mm.edu/~msmo/volvo/pahes/IMG_0382.htm
becomes
http://ide01.mm.edu/~msmo/volvo/images/IMG_0382.jpg

I have also experienced the phenomenon of moving lights in the background, yet focused people in the foreground. Interesting effect that was in my case purely accidental. Crossing the line of skill vs. luck?

Im shooting with the nightprogram on my A80 with the flash on (no auto).
The flash freezes the people, and the night mode is using long shuttertimes so the lights have time to make nice trails... :-)
If someone is moving to much they become somewhat transparent, like ghost. I belive you can make nice UFO-pics this way too *hehe*

ps. thanks for the tip on how to link pics in postings :-) ds.

I hope I am not patronizing anyone here. If I am, please excuse.
Night mode is intended to create a proper exposure for the entire picture. The flash goes off and freezes the subject while the shutter stays open and attempts to expose the rest of the scene, even though it is dark.
If things are moving in the background such as lights or poeple, they leave trails or they just don't show up. Night mode is intended to have a non-moving background if you were trying to take a portrait of some sort and also to be used on a tripod. You can acheive the same effect by using TV or shutter priority at slow shutter speeds and forcing a flash.
In this case, the phtographer moved the camera up to or towards stationary lights on the ceiling or wherever they were after the flash fired which blended the frozen scene with the trails of light.
Totally legitimate technique. I am not a big fan of any of the pictures however I know that it is difficult and you probably have to take about 1000 of these to get one that is REALLY nice.

Yes, normaly I wouldn't posted all those images but it was in order to document the evening with My coworkers and they aren't so picky :-) *hehe* I can't say that those pic holds any higher photographic standard. I'll try to clean my reputation as photographer soon 8)
But that is the nice thing with digital photography, u can take 1000pics and erase 999 and have that one perfect foto.
