Hi,
Here's a shot that I am proud of. I particularly like the abstract images you sometimes find in nature. I've put it as a background on my computer at work, and got positive reactions from my colleagues. So now I dare showing it to you guys and girls. Please be honest (and contructive :) ) in your criticisms.
It's a rotated crop of the orignal shot. Also I did some sharpening.

It is very nice -- and probably hard as heck to pull off. It is like a monochromatic flower in an off season. I am waiting for an elf to appear or (I suppose) a hobit. Nice capture. Is it edible?

Always a scary thing to admit to in Critique Corner Marc! My experience has been the better I think a shot is, the more I feel disappointed when it doesn't make it past the post!
Having said that, I really like your shot. There's a nice tight crop which works well but left me also, wanting to see the whole thing. The colour and exposure look fine and for such a "simple" subject there's lots of detail. This may be a monitor issue but I am seeing a slight red cast: it may also be a mushroom issue!
Well done Marc

Thanks for the nice feedback and advice.
Since Martin wants to see the whole thing, here is the original picture. Resized but unedited... as you can see. The mushrooms were sitting about 2 meters high on a tree and the shot was taken straight upwards against the sun. That's why I decided to crop it heavily. At that time I learned that I could also created rotated crops, which sometimes creates surprising results.
W.r.t. the red color... I don't see it. But I must admit that I have not yet really invested time in calibrating my monitor or so.

It's absolutley clear why you cropped now thanks for posting the original - very interesting. There's no red cast either. The one thing the uncropped image does is show the reflected colour in the tree bark. It was not a colour thing, it was a mushroom thing!
Thanks again Marc and keep it up!
