Durham Castle & Cathedral taken this evening. I do wish they would change the lighting on the Castle to something similar to the Cathedral - I think it's too 'yellowish' - what do you think. ( if I get enough posts agreeing with me I'll send in a petition to the City Council ;) ;) )
Regards Alan.

I agree with you Alan,2 totally different sources of coloured light (and i`m with you about the City Council).:lol:

A wee tip though...if you shot it in raw,why don`t you split the image in two, diagonally, and alter the WB and the n blend them together to the closest match? Just a thought mate...;)

Thanks Dimitri - had a quick effort at your suggestion - looks the way to go, will have another go tomorrow.
Many thanks & kind regards Alan.

Great suggestion from Dimitri, and well executed by you! I'd be interested in learning how to do that. It's a terrific view, two beautiful buildings steeped in history in one shot.

Your processing works very well Alan although I can't decide whether I prefer the colour of the castle over that of the cathedral. ;)

I like your first shot the best Alan, the varity of colors does it for me, excellent exposure as well.

...have to agree with Frank on this one. I like the first one the best. The colors make for a more interesting shot.

Although the suggestion of splitting the picture and correcting white balance makes for a very clever solution!

Many thanks Elizabeth Anne, John, Frank, Alyssa, Stephen, for the kind comments - Ummmm - looks like the yellow lights are staying:rolleyes: ;) majority rules OK:D
Elizabeth Anne (not so good with written details but roughly like this;) )
As Dimitri suggested make two copies from the RAW file, one with a correct exposure and one with the castle which has the white balance and colour adjustment set to something near the Cathedral. Drag ond drop the second image onto the correctly exposed image. Add a layer mask and paint on the mask with Black to reveal the correctly exposed image but leaving the Castle untouched ( may have to paint Black/White to reveal/hide around Castle with a small soft edged brush) Hope this makes sense Elizabeth Anne - Oh - and yes they are beautiful buildings - I have tons of shots from various angles and light but I still enjoy taking them.http://www.durhamcathedral.co.uk/
