Hmm.. I'm not sure such a shallow DOF served this composition too well.
Maybe try @ f/8 to bring out and focus more on the definition & subtle contrast.

If I had to guess, w/o loking at the exif, I'd say you used the Fifty.
I often have to fight the urge to set the Av to 1.4 (1.8) on this lens too.

I agree with Glen. I like the surface, the subject and the arrangement, but more DOF would improve the image a lot. Wide open on the 50 is tempting though, isn't it? ;)

as a matter of fact it is the Sigma 70-300 @ 190mm , f/5

i shall redo and see what happends.. ;) :)

i really like it. I think the DOF is fine as cant see what the unfocussed areas would add to the image if they were crisp?

i'm sort of on the fence. i think the composition is cool, as well as the textured feeling i think you get with shallow dof. i think the soft, curved line from the edge of the puddle in the back is a nice contrast to the sharpness of the bubbles. however, if more of the drops in the center were crisp, i think it would improve the delivery.
