Has anyone used or tested one of thse neat little devices? I know someone with one and a 20D with AB strobes and says it is great, really tiny and light.

its limited on sync speed, and very expensive.

If you don't need the small factor, pocket wizards are a much better buy

Cool. Just wondering. My friend is a real gadget guy and he was ranting about how cool it was. He buys and sells toys all the time.

Well, if he's into cool toys, then yes, they are cool. The tiny transmitter is really neat, even though the receiver is quite large in comparison.

But that's about it. Pocketwizard trumps it in every other area. Sync is only like 1/180 or something, and range is about 16 times less than PW.

Wow, that's impressively bad.

I have a friend that has a MicroSync and it works nicely.

For general studio work they are fine. They are limited a bit on shutter speed sync. But the shutter speed that they can support is still fine for general studio work. I do not recall the actual shutter speed limit, but it is a bit below the PC sync max for all of the Canon DSLRs. Consult the MicroSync website for the facts.

The Pocket Wizard transmitter on the camera is much larger than the MicroSync. The size of the transmitter would seem to me to typically be a bigger issue than the receiver. But, even with the microsync receiver that my friend has, the receiver is as small or smaller than a Pocket Wizard receiver.

Enjoy! Lon
