I was bored at home, thanks to an allergic reaction (you can still see my swollen eyes in these pictures) so I started playing around.

The first is the original without any PP:

This is my shot at something classic:

(Truth be told, I'm also still learning PS so I'm not sure exactly what I did)

and this is my shot at something artisitic:

I like the first one. Nice color. Love your hair!! Is it wet? It looks so shiny.(in a good way)

Thanks! I was laying down in bed and grabbed my scarf and started snapping. My hair was a little wet.. but that's the power of mousse!

I'd like to get some tips on non-traditional portraits... maybe not so close up as these... what have you all done in the past?

I just posted my first self-portrait the other day. A little different.

Well I think you are very pretty even with your allergic reaction going on. I thought that I would give you a break from your allergic reaction. What do you think about the green eyes?

This is an edit of your original without any PP. The only thing I changed was around the eyes and the shadow from the frame of your glasses.

Pagefile - no offence meant, but those eyes just look scary now! Lovely shots - it's a shame that the flash / light is so bright. I've attached my attempt to tone down the lighting a little. I converted it to black and white using the channel mixer in Photoshop, used curves to reduce the brightness a little, and then burnt in the brightest areas.

I am not a freqent fan of the overexposed midtones, but I think it fits in your 2nd and 3rd, I like it. I like the pp edits very well also, but if I personally had to choose any, it would be the #3 original.

My main area was around the eyes and the lens's and the shadows from the frame. There really was no reason why I did the color change of the eyes. Bad idea very bad.

Here it is with out my bad idea.

lol, that's much better :) I think you simply needed to reduce the opacity of the layer with the green on, but anyway - they're lovely eyes anyway, and don't need changing colour :D.

Thanks again but no more self prtraits... I only do them when I'm bored and can't go outside... I'd rather be behind than in front of the camera.

I think you're wrong. I blame my father every day for not giving me his hazel eyes. I'mhoping they skip a generation.

#1 almost looks like a doll to me.
Actually, I don't know why, but I think some of the edits look more like dolls... I WISH my skin was that perfect! lol

I'm going to try my hand at editing some of that shadow out... or get contacts! Thanks for the tips!

The grass is always greener. . . I have hazel eyes, but my wife has the most stunning blue eyes, and both our boys have her eyes - a pair of heartbreakers when they get older!
