i just picked up my first camera, the a620 and i'm just getting into photography. i've read learning to see creatively by bryan peterson and i'm still waiting to get my hands on understanding exposure.
anyway here's my first attempt at shooting a flower, what do you guys think? i think it would be a lot better if the flower was nicer and the fence wasn't there but i didn't have a lot of options shooting my front yard!

I'm no expert here, so this is just an opinion, but the tree in the background distracts me from the flower... Maybe try a shallower DOF to make the background stand out less?

Otherwise, pretty picture.
