Hi Folks,
I am a complete newbie and just picked up an s400. I am having lots of fun with it. But there's one thing I cant seem to figure out.

When I go to snap a picture, I have to hold the button down for quite a while before the photo is snapped, and often times I lose the picture I am trying to capture.

Is there a way to cure this or is this normal? Thanks, this is a great forum, I've read some very interesting stuff and I'm sure I'll read a lot more.

ct,

What you are experiencing is the bane of digital cameras. There is a distinct delay between shutter press and shutter release at the camera focuses and gets its exposure.

The cure is to press the shutter release half-way to activate those functions. Then continue and press the rest of the way to get the shutter to release. After a couple thousand pictures, it becomes semi-automatic.

Set up your camera on manual and ISO 400. Shutter lag is greatly reduced.

The anti-red-eye mode when you're taking photos with flash can also slow things down a bit - don't use it if you think you can get away without it !
