I'm working on a cookbook of our favorite recipes from the years. Just taking some quick shots of veggies, food etc... and need some feedback. This book is just for my husband and I and if it comes out ok family will each get a copy for christmas next year. So basically it doesn't have to be wonderful, but I'd like it to look nice. Any suggestions?

Iron the background or narrow your DOF. Other than that, for the audience in question, the lighting is good on most except for the eggplant parm.

The shots are technically well taken. You have posted a lot of images. You might have got more response with fewer images but its still early. Good lighting, sharp focus etc. but.
Since you asked here's a few suggestions or comments.:)
The shots with all the stuff sitting on the table could be placed in a more creative manner. These items could be sitting on or resting on one another, piled-up a bit.
For the shots with the wine bottle and glass of wine, I prefer the one with the vampire wine where glass and bottle overlap.
The shot with the bottle, glass and picture of grapes could be rearranged so the glass does not cover the grapes and the bottle and glass overlap. The bottle and the glass might look better covering a portion of the right side of the picture.
For me, the close-up shot of the pepper with stem coming out of the right side of the frame doesn't work. You need to pull out a bit.
Also, for me, the glass at an angle doesn't work. Too unnatural.
The plate with the spaghetti and veal parmigiana might look better from a side view, slightly above the plate with some steam rising off it.
The quiche looks lonely all by itself on the plate. Both plates could use some garnish.
Cutting the top off the wine bottle doesn't look right to me in the first shot.
Hope this isn't too much.
Good luck with book and from the look of the food you can invite me over for dinner any time.

Your spaghetti box is upside down to me. I would turn it around. Vampire wine...... never heard of it before until my daughters boyfriend brought a bottle for dinner last month. Good stuff. :)

Thanks everyone! I'll work some more on a few things and post what I come up with.
