Hi. I recently had a baby and I love to take pictures of her. I tried taking her to a studio and she cried most of the time and it cost so much to get pictures! I take pictures of her all the time with my Canon Rebel XT and thought I could put her on a beanbag chair with black velvet just as easily as the studios. But, my lighting isn't that great. Ritz camera is selling a home studio kit for $299 that includes a soft box and an umbrella light, stands, etc. I thought that might be perfect. I've looked all over the forums and can't find much on this specific product. I don't want to spend any more than this. I'll use it to take pictures of our daughter and maybe our cat, but I go back to work in a month and I'd be kidding myself if I thought I was going to get serious enough about photography to need more than the basic kit. I want something I just just bring home, set up, and start experimenting with pictures. Does anyone think buying the kit is a good idea? I can't find it on sale elsewhere -- all my searches tend to pop to UK sites. Any advice would be much appreciated!

I was hoping to buy it this week so I can take some Christmas pictures to include in my card!

Thanks!!

I use this kit and i find it great for small studio and home shoots... its a bit fragile though so bear that in mind.

Thanks for the feedback! Fragile as in it won't last long just from regular use or fragile as in if I am not careful or too rough I'll break it?
