Check out the accessories!

Zoom Wide Angle-Telephoto 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6 SIG28-300 $799.99

I bet they will try to force you to order accessories in addition to the camera and if u refuse they will cancel your order. I'd avoid them.

Wow, that photo gallery link is hilarious.

I have no experience with any of these stores. In their defense, the storefront pictures alone (for the most part) are not enough to convict. the "too good to be true" prices and the bad feedback... well that is another thing entirely.

I know some of the neighborhoods that these stores are in. My hat is off to the person that took those pictures. You have to be pretty crazy to walk around there and start snapping pictures of someone's front door, or even their retail location. The odds are pretty good that if you don't lose your camera in the process, someone will probably imbed it in one of your orifices.

The pictures should have a disclaimer "professional photographer on a closed course... do NOT try this at home."

You took the words right out of my mouth. :D Makes me think I should maybe drop by rec.photo.digital sometime. Photography is the only "hobby" where I have not tried usenet yet. But I suspect the noise can be unbearable over there.

I have to agree since I've lived in Brooklyn for more than 1/2 my lifetime too. :D I guess this is where an S400 or one of them "wildlife" tele zooms would come in handy. ;)

Didn't realize quite that many of these operations are just run from home offices. Surely, most of those are not selling expensive DSLRs and lenses, no? And at least the one that Roan asked about doesn't have bars on the windows. :D

Suppose you have looks of an average guy. You're walking down the street and there's the prettiest girl you've ever seen and she's smiling to you and eagerly starts to talk to you. If I were you, I'd run like hell. Next, you see a my-god! kind of deal, whole 100$ cheaper offer than everybody else. Now, what do you think are the odds everything goes jolly good? 0.

Crooks got smarter, see, they don't sell a $1000 item for $200, because it's just too unbelievable, and you'd have to be a real retard to not get this. An $800 instead of $1000 sounds much more credible, however if you use some logic (the fact that like 95% of shops don't go below $950) you realize it must be a fraud.

So when in doubt, think.

Sometimes you get too excited and you rush rush rush and your mind just stops functioning........

Thank goodness I had enough self-control to seek advice before making what would've been a horrible decision.........

Stop, Look and Listen............and then you GO.........
