Another excellent Finnish band. You can listen to their music at http://www.discoensemble.com (there's a music player embedded on the pages).

The show was filmed by Music Television Finland, so there were a couple of obstacles there (cameramen and their "catwalk").

This was a three-song deal, but the security guys were kind enough to let me stay next to the stage in front of the security fence, where I shot one of the best concert pictures I have ever taken. I guess it's not hard to see which picture I'm talking here.

Just one shot like #1, and I would consider a year of shooting to have been well-spent.
Great work!

Very exciting photos...

I like them all...If I wait a few hours or a day, I might have slightly different opinions...

I have a similar one to # 6 of an American band that got rave reviews on a radio station's photo album...it was taken this past July on 35mm film...

By the way, that's a flash light of someones camera against which I'm shooting in that picture. A bit of luck now and then does not hurt.

It's the unexpected that also yields surprises...

Rather than an opposing camera flash, in mine photo the hands were there too...but the light was from a bright 12 pack of stage flood lights, turned in my direction by remote control...
I've shot into them since and got similar effects...but not as uniques in composition...the same moment just wasn't there...

I also like the close up of the guy in leather...

The other photos have great lighting too...I just can't figure out which ones are better than others...

They are all good so you don't need to chose, John! Last one seem very noisey. First one ... did he pour water on himself first? :-)

Isn't it fun when you find someone that makes every shot look good - the guitarist here, the bassist in the Datsun's thread.

All the guitarists shots are prime. #5 is prime for the photog but I would denoise a litte. #6 a little too noisy and too much of a blowout in the middle not only made the contrast soft but put a little too much gulf between the vocalist and the audience - the effect you were going for.

I added noise to the last one :). I consider it a way to make the shot more impressionistic (also, it was going to be somewhat noisy anyway). Of course, web is not the best medium to show intentionally noisy images. Soon René will come and say he likes the noise - I hope ;).

In the first shot, it might be just sweat, or at least I didn't notice he pouring water on himself.

Thanks Dwight, At times, I'm rattling my brains here trying to figure the nearly impossible out...

You got me out of a jam...I needed that...after all, I am trying to de-stress, and get rid of anxiety, too...and I'm not even over 75 yrs. of age yet...

Nice images.
#1 is nice, but I like #5 and #6 better....

Nice noise by the way ;)
Maybe a bit more in the blown out parts, to resemble film grain a bit more? (Hard to see on these small images). If you use PS, you might want to have a look at this low res PS file (http://www.moonglade.net/~rene/rhd_20060930HeOff0430LR.psd) (still 10Mb however), to give an idea how I add noise lately....

KMB, great call on Rene! I would have expected him to say something about RAW, too! :-) [Please note that when I convert to RAW and PS CS I will be all over Rene for many tutorials and heavy duty criticism even though I make fun of him now!]
