Challenge #95 - HOME
RESULTS!
Given the subject (almost everyone has a home - right?) I had hoped for more entries, but thanks to all for posting enough good ones to let me choose winners.
FIRST: Alans220 for "My Home". This one made me smile right away as the dog is almost barking the title out loud. The fact that his home looks like a miniature human house complete with blue roof adds to the charm. Nice exposure, too, as I know it's tough to get it right with a black (or partly black) animal, whether dog or bear. Congratulations and over to you for the next challenge!
SECOND: Rpolitsr for "Football at home". This might better be titled "Fans Clubhouse", but the comfortable jumble of generations you have managed to fit into the room and still get the exposure and focus right (even on the TV) clearly shows that everyone, including the photographer, is right at home.
THIRD: Boutty for "Help with hanging up the cloths before leaving home for the country club?". Although my first impression was "laundry day" rather than "home", the more I looked at this image the better I liked it. It defiantly proclaims that despite the commercial activity below this is a thriving family home, although in most uptight communities here in Canada there would soon be bylaw enforcement officers and neighbourhood complainers knocking at their door.
Others in order posted:
Toogy: This is a nice portrait of a family at home, but I think with some changes you might have done much better with these subjects. Everyone is focused on something out of the picture that should have been included in the composition. I also think a warmer - maybe sepia - tone would have been better, and I'm not a fan of large signatures on photos.
Andrewaaa5: No offense to your lovely lady, but this is too much portrait (and maybe too much camera shake?) to be a "home" winner.
Marie: I was somehow expecting a more "peopled" entry from you, and although this hearth may be the heart of a home I would have liked to see some "home" around it, or maybe slippers (with or without feet) in front of the fire.
Megatrixel. Although an excellent Christmas portrait it doesn't also say "home" quite as well as the top three.
************************************************** ************************
I'll be looking for images that convey the concept of "home". This may help: "While a house or other residential dwelling is often referred to as a home, the concept of "home" is broader than a physical dwelling. Home is often a place of refuge and safety, where worldly cares fade and the things and people that one loves becomes the focus." (Wikipedia)
Your photo should illustrate this without the need for explanation, and I hope we'll get some beautiful, imaginative, and above all well composed entries.
Have fun and PLEASE READ THE RULES!
