I thought I read somewhere that putting on other people's lenses on your own camera isn't a good idea. I don't know why it would hurt anything... but thought I would ask just to make sure. Thanks.

Any thoughts as to why you think it might be bad? Perhaps you mean other's people's CF cards. Although not bad it can alter your file numbering.

So this is where this thread went to......
Not to question whether or not this thread should have been moved - but since the OP was actually seeking advice on this, should the thread remain in the forum where it was orginally posted, until the OP read it at least? I mean, as unbelievable as it seems, this sounds like it was an actual concern of his.
I guess I just questioned whether this thread should have been moved..........sorry :o

Remember that your camera has a female mount that gets penetrated by the male mount of the lens. Do you know where that lens has been and is your camera properly protected?

If that was the case why would they sell and people buy used lenses. If they are used it stands to reason that they were other people's lenses to begin with. Come to think of it maybe that is why my shots are coming out all wrong!!!:p :p :p

You have to be carefull who you buy your used lenses from. Some pros sell lenses that are highly skilled from past experience and worth the extra money. You can't just pick up a lens from a street corner vendor and expect it to get the performance of a professionally trained lens.
Your shots are not coming out wrong. They just don't have that little bit extra a professional touch provides.

some people might not be into "lens swapping" to avoid the blame game:
person A: your lens wrecked my camera
person B: your camera wrecked my lens
both: you dirty #$^#$&!!!

The downside comes from them having better glass then you and you realizing it...

Not able to put other people's lenses on your camera?
That would put the lens rental business...out of business, or would it?
