Just got my new lens today (Sigma 500mm f/4.5) so pointed it at the only thing around at this time worth shooting, my old mate the moon :) so prepare to be bored!
Both shots handheld with the lens resting on a beanbag on top of a car.
First shot @ 500mm

With 1.4x TC so 700mm

You can all wake up now ;)

I'm not bored. Both are good shots.
You have a lot of heart shooting those hand held but hey, they came out with no camera shake so good deal.

The first one looks a tad brighter and a bit more crisp. Is that the result of the TC, or did you just process the first one differently?

Very nicely exposed JuZ. At 10x magnification (500mm) the Moon will arc at a rate of 1 inch per minute across the viewfinder. You obviously took the shot well out of reach of heat haze or City lights. Very crisp, although the second one is showing a little wear and tear around the crater edges.
Better than any of mine over the years.

Thanks everyone :)
I went back out there this evening armed with the 500mm and my 2x TC, not handheld this time ;)
This is a 100% crop

Considering that I'm shooting through several miles of atmosphere and using a 2x TC I think it came out pretty well :)

Holee Juz... that's the closest Moon shot I have ever seen without a camera attached to a telescope. No wonder the bird guys love this lens.
Very impressive.
