Hello ! i have now 4 groups and one of them has a subgroup in it. I plan to put more subgroups in there... I can not find a way to arrange this 4 groups on the Indexpage in a matrix like system. Is this possible at all? To me it seems that if i add another group it is placed horizontal next to the other exisiting groups. If i change the size of the browser window the groups do not change position and the thumbs move vertically downwards. The group which contains another group does not show microthumbs out of the containng groups/s.

Can anyone help me with this issue? A hint, suggestions, a remedy or even a solution?

These are template design "issues", I'm not 100% what you are looking for (for example flowing design is good in my book). If you want groups as horizontally sorted exhibitions like /templates/pages/ee_2_default/exhibition/embedded/default_XHTML_content_horsort.php template, you can copy the idea from there.

The group which contains another group does not show microthumbs out of the containng groups/s.

This is currently by design. Group thumbs are shown from exhibitions below it, if there are no exhibitions then you must use custom image (more options will be added later).

I'm happy with the sorting possibilities. No problem there.

I'm not sure if i understand this right...

It seems that if there are 2-3 galeries they are arranged horizontally. If there are 4 galeries they are arranged in a 2x2 matrix no matter what the size of the browser window is.

The groups, it seems, can only have a horizontal alignment. I did not try this out yet but i think that if i add a 5th group on the index page it will get a bit crowded because they align only horizontally.

I already tried to make myself familiar with the template system but as of yet this is still a black hole for me... unfortunately.

I'm having a similar problem. I used to have 2 columns (EE 2.01) but now I have 3 columns (after updating to EE2.02). Where did you find that embeded group template setting?

Thanks. :)

In the administrative page go to -> styles -> style to edit -> Templates for embedded items ->
Embedded group listing in index
Content template: templates/pages/ee_2_default/group/embedded/default_XHTML_content.php

EDIT/OPEN the template. The 3rd. line gives you the option of changing the layout of groups on the index page.

Thanks for the tip. I tried several values in that field to see what would happen. It had no effect on the display of my index page. :(

I'm pretty sure I was editing the correct file (the one you indicated), and even tried restarting my browser, just in case. Any other ideas?

Thanks for the help, though. :)

I think that the default value for this is 4... I reversed it back to 4 and the 4 groups on my indexpage are all in one row

So i have now 4 groups and 3 galeries on the index page. When i change this value from the default 4 to 3 i get a matrix of 2x2 groups, when i change this value to 3 i still have a matrix of 2x2.
I'm not sure how exactly it works but i think that if i had 6 groups instead of 4 and would set a value of 3 the groups would arrange in a matrix of 3x3.

Changing the value works instantly but only for groups... not galleries.

Oh, I see. I haven't set up any groups, only galleries. Maybe I'll try that instead. thanks for the help. :)
