I tend to favor B&W, however B&W conversion is not my strong point so I don't convert to B&W that often. Here is my feeble attempt at B&W conversion.

I wish I could see them, but my work server blocks pbase... GRRR! How do you go about B&W conversion? Have you tried gradient mapping? The adjusting the levels manually?

Yes, that is exactly how I converted these. I can't seem to get it right using channel mixer.

Can you attach one color and one B&W? I can see attached images.

Sure, I'll do that later tonight. I'm at work now.

Art, please don't take this the wrong way...

Your model in these shots looks a little... vacant? I think she/you were going for intense, but its looks like she's just standing there waiting for her photo to be taken. I don't really have any technical suggestions, because, frankly, you probably know what you're doing more than I do. I just think these would have been a bit more eye-grabbing if you'd had the model interacting a bit more with the camera.

The B+W conversion looks ok to me, this shot might look good with a bit of added grain?

Thanks DiscoLizard. First of all, thanks for your honesty. Secondly, I totally agree with you. That is why I wanted to convert them to B&W. I was hoping to give it a mood of maybe sadness, but I don't think her expression and body language fits that. I did think about adding grain, but decided against it in the last minute.

I agree with DiscoLizard, but thought I would try my hand at the conversion. I duplicated the orignal layer and made the duplicate "grungy" by moving the left triangle on LEVELS far to the right. Then made a layer mask and painted her back in to maintain skin tones.

Thanks Ryan! These look awesome. PSE2 doesn't have layer mask but I think I know how to get around it.

not a bad job on the conversion. I was going to suggest that they needed a bit more contrast, but i see there was an edit done already!

nice job on your "feeble attempt" ;)

Thanks Skweekie. Always appreciate your comments. Rhino did a great job and he also taught me something.
