I've been thinking of setting up a "studio" in my bedroom. I live in a two bedroom apartment with another roommate, so the only place I can put it is in my room. I have a good amount of space to work with, and have been looking on bhphoto for some equipment. Would there be anything else that I would need to get started? Here's what I'm looking at now. Thanks!

I'm not sure if I have enough room for this or not, if I do, it would be getting cramped in my room. Would it be okay to nail or tack the backdrop to the wall and let it hang down?

As you can see from my sig, I have a 580ex. I was going to get this softbox to use with it, and my intent is to photograph people, you think it will be large enough?

Does anyone have experience with any of these? Is it actual paper? I'm new to all of the studio equipment so be easy on me. Are there other materials that are better for studio backdrops?

Thanks for yor time,
-Ben

Look on there for I think it is savage or impact port a stand. Much cheaper and it is ok. I have it just to set up around the house and friends homes to do shoots. It hasnt failed on me or falling over. I think like 90 dollars

The paper is paper, thick paper.

On the tacking it to the wall, get a stand I'd say. You could tack it to the wall but later down the road you will wish you got a stand so you can be mobile or so you dont ding up your walls. Also with roll you wont get the shot you want. You use the roll high so if you mess up the paper at the cut end you roll it down and then start over. If you use the cut in at the top by tacking it to the wall you will loose alot of paper if you mess up the other end. I hope I am making sense.

on the backdrop you could use a bed sheet. I did that too. Go to wallmart and get a king size flat sheet. It is kind of like muslim.
