How can I tell if I buy a lens from someone if it's an import or us version? will the warranty card say? Please let me know.. There seems to be an ok deal on craigslist for a lens i want..

The import version will not have a USA warranty card. Assumming you are speaking about Canon equipment.

You would need the bill of sales to get warranty on Canon products.
