well, I have a few shots to share. These were taken with my XTi. This is my first dslr camera and I'd like some feedback...good or bad. the inside photos were all taken in really low crappy light. Had to use flash on some. I know the 1st pics should include a duck but...there aren't any around right now, it's cold!

If event photography is a big interest of yours, you might want to check out that forum (performing arts). You could get a lot of specific feedback from event shooters there.

I think you have a couple of nice captures here. The 2-headed guitar player in #2 is an interesting effect. ;) Personally, I find shooting in low-light environments to be quite challenging. For me, that means shooting my daughter's dance and orchestra performances where I cannot use flash. You may want to consider the Canon 50mm f/1.8 or 85mm f/1.8 lens. Both are relatively inexpensive and are well regarded for their price. I didn't check them all, but it looks like most of your pics were shot at 55mm and f/5.6. Either of the lenses I mentioned would give over 2 additional stops compared to the lens (kit lens?) that your are currently using. All-in-all, I think you are off to a nice start.

Welcome to the Forum. I like the drummer shot, would have preferred to see the sticks though. Overall, great first attempt with a new camera.

not bad at all for your first slr shots :)
But definitely, definitely buy a 50mm prime for shooting those bands, you'll be amazed what f2 can do for you...

The first would be better if that other guy wasnt in the background. The third one is nice.
Just a quick question on your choice for a XTI, did you consider getting a 20d? and if you did why did you pick the xti? im in this situation right now

thanks for the kind words...it's encouraging to hear that I didn't shoot total crap. after doing a lot of reading and searching around here, I think will buy the 50 and 85 lenses.
TO Obey...I got a smokin' deal on my XTi thats why I bought it. I had been kicking around the idea of buying a dslr for over a year but didn't want to take the financial plunge. I finally decided to buy and when I found the XTi with kit lens, 2 gig ultra II, extra battery for $750...I had to! I have a friend who gave me the slight..."hook up".
