In the latest Studio Photography and Design, there is a blurb in the innovations column showing the newEpson P-1000 Photo viewer. 10gb drive and a 3.8 inch screen.

I'm guessing they are making this as a competitior to Flashtrax or similar viewers/storage electronics. The 10gb drive is a bit short sighted.

I actually got my hands on one the other day. It is called the Epson P-1000.

The screen it a million times better than the FlashTrax. If I wanted to show pictures to people in the field (is it chimping if you transfer them first ?) then I would use this short of a laptop.

10Gb sounds small but that is still around the 1300 - 1500 shots mark for 10D RAW files. Plenty for a day out and probably good enough for a weeks shooting for many people.

It has a lot of stuff built in for printing directly etc.

It is a very nice item and does display RAW images, well, the embedded JPEG.

Even so, I'm holding out until the day Canon make such a device. Nikon have just announced theirs so I'm sure it won't be long until Canon do the same.

Cheers

Whats the cost on it...?

I'd swap out the 10gig in a second.. hell that won't even hold three "dumps" from my soon to be here 4 gig Microdrive :)
