Ice storm shuts down St. Louis MetroLink

An ice storm shut down MetroLink service in Illinois on Thursday 12-01-2006. Trains were abandoned in place when the lines snapped under the weight of ice and snow and every substation lost power. This was the worst ice storm in the Metro area since Jan 1, 1979.

I like that picture of ice vs train - easy to see why the ice won. I think that it is an excellent image as well.
