i will tell you what, I think you have a great mind for fashion based upon these images - while I dont think the outfit is good or contrasts against the background your application of the shoot and the concept was spot on - Your technical ability with the camera is pretty dam good also, the final photo is fantastic - I would have like to see her whole hand but can happily live with it - great stuff, THANKS for sharing.

Thanks guys.

As for a reflector, in any normal case i would have used a reflector, but the model was late to the shoot which left us w/ less than an hour of actual shooting time. So no, i didn't fuss w/ a reflector.

Thanks guys. I'd have to say this is the best reaction i've gotten to any of the images i've posted here. Usually i kinda split the crowd down the middle. I guess cause these are slightly more traditional than my usual images.

Glad you guys like though :)

I like the shots...but if the assignment was fashion, shouldn't there be more focus on the girl/clothes? Except for the last picture, the landscape takes focus away from the subject. The last picture is a nice one of the girl, but the fashion (clothing) is lost. It's hard to say without knowing exactly what the wording of the assignment was.

The assignment was to shoot a fashion spread. Should be about 5 images and should include a couple detail shots.

If you look at fashion spreads today (or even a lot of advertisements,) you'll notice that even though it's about the clothes, the clothes aren't always showcased perfectly and straight forward. This of course is for certain types of comapnies/designers though. Obviously, you wouldn't see this type of stuff in a mervyn's ad.

If this is something you've never seen or noticed before in fashion photography, you should check out some of todays fashion magazines. The clothing often times almost plays second fiddle to other things in the images.

Although it is a "Fashion Photography" class, I guess you could say that the class is geared towards creating artistic contemporary portraits which are commercially viable. This is because this is the trend today, and this is what higher end clients will look for.

Great work all around. Could have been made better with a reflector (simple as a white sheet on the ground) to add a little more definition in the dark areas, especially in the closest shot.

Oh believe me, i know. But we were in a huge rush as the model was late to the shoot. Otherwise i would have used a reflector. I actually had one w/ me.

Is it okay to ask what kind of equipment you shot those with?

Is it okay to ask what kind of equipment you shot those with?

Sure, it was shot w/ a 10D. #1 and #4 were shot w/ a 17-40mm f/4 L. And the others were shot w/ a 28-135mm F/3.5-5.6 IS. That's pretty much it. I like to keep things real simple. :)
