I found this lense for about the same price as the Canon 70-300mm IS and Canon 70-200 f/4L.
Can anyone tell me more about it?
Obviously, it isn't an "L", nor does it have IS, but with +100/200mm focal length and Tokina's well known build quality I'm seriously glancing at this one...

More info, anyone???
Optical quality?
AF?

Thanks,
BrewsterPilot

Someone did a review on that lens a short while ago. If I recall, they thought that it was pretty good. Do a search and I'm sure you'll find it.

I think there was a review by a member here. PopPHoto also tested it.

Good lens for the money. Small and compact but well made. Decent IQ.

Your review was about the older version, no? I hear IQ has been improved since then. Maybe someone can enlighten me on this matter?

There have been three versions. The first was not so good, the second is good and the new D model is unknown. I have seen no reviews of the D as it only came on the market a few months back.

OK, thanks.
I've heard rumors that the D is supposed to be a goodie, what site do you think has the first review?

In Condyk's original thread, I posted about my experiences with the new version, the ATX-D, that I purchased in September 2006. Sample shots are also there.
