Challenge #96 - Christmas
RESULTS!

FIRST: Boutty – Golden Night
Excellent photo, love the colours, focus and depth of field. Perfect composition.

SECOND: gewb - "Peace On Earth" from the City and County of Denver
I really like this shot, the darkness and coloured lights are very nice, I would have had to taken a ‘panorama’ of this scene

THIRD: rpolitsr - christmas fair.
A busy photo with lots to look at, good compostion with spot-on exposure.

Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, there's very little escaping it right now. It means so many things to different people, from religion to Christmas trees, fun for kids, Santa Claus, happy times and sometimes even sad times. The list is endless so it should give you plenty of scope to show one of the many things that is...Christmas!
Enjoy the challenge.

Hello Al -

Thanks for the second place!

That building is one city block across. The lighting display has 20,000 lights and 5 miles of electrical wire. It is one of the largest single displays in the world.

I took that as a single image from about a block away.

Congrats Boutty! Hope I have time for the next challange...

Regards,
gewb

Congratulations, Boutty and gewb for the beautifull pictures and the top places!

I enjoyed the warm, really golden colors of Boutty’s picture and the colorful building (City Hall?) and the low placement of the camera in gewb’s photo.

Nice group, marie. Carols and little young people are the main symbol of Christmas for me because my sons were always part of the choir and frequent soloists in their school.

Snow is another symbol of Christmas, always present in our holyday’s decoration (saw the snowy trees in my photo?) but never part of our tropical cities. That is why Larry_NB’s picture is important for me in this small but beautiful collection of photos.

christmas fair:
A busy photo with lots to look at, good composition with spot-on exposure.

Thank you alans220 for the third place, for hosting and for the comments.

Yea! I do not understand why I love pictures with just few elements in them, but almost always shot mine with a lot of single elements.

I paid attention to composition from the beginning, but cropping helped to frame the lady and crowded display.

Regarding exposure, I shot this picture in RAW and tested Adobe LightRoom Beta4 with it. Awesome program!. I made six conversions each one with a larger exposure compensation and combined them in Photoshop (I do not know how to combine images in LightRoom yet) preserving exposure in the lower right and progressively increasing light level through the upper left.

Thanks Al for hosting and comments. It's a great honour of the top spot amongst all these beauty entries of all the folks. Congrats to gewb and rpolitsr for the their sweet placings.

The light source for my shot was the late afternoon’s sun came through our front door brown leadlight glass. I took the photo in RAW and selected the tungsten white balance mood as my conversion. That about it I think.

I’ll need to seach for a topic for this week ASAP. Wish me luck!

I'm sorry to see that there were few entries this week (yes, I've been one of the guilty parties for several weeks now). I guess we're all busy getting ready for the holidays!
