The Secret Machines are a Indi Rock trio. These guys have a lot of power behind what they do. Stage was set up in a circle, in the middle of the room. Lights were going crazy. It was kind of hard to get a shot in, but a few turned out. Please check them all out at http://musicphotog.com/wp-gallery2.php
here are a couple:

edit: oh yea, Beck was playing 'secret' show that night in the same venue in a club upstairs. they did not allow photography, but i managed to get my camera in and snap one shot. it's in that same album on the website :)

Which famous "Beck" is this?
I really like the way the light permeates around the subject in the first one...the green works for me in the second one too...
but more of a frontal would help, cause we see too much coat, and not enough face...
That's one of the problems of shooting the piano players...Why do they position the piano away from the audience anyway?

thanks john, i always appreciate your input. the stage was set up in a circle, so everyone was facing towards each other. and with keyboard players, it's either their back is to you, or you can only see their head.
the beck picture is in that album, linked above - it's the last picture. beck announce a show at this venue the day before. 200 people max. we had to sneak in :) there were not supposed to be any cameras, but since i snuck in with my creds from the previous show, then i was able to get one shot.
also, wondering if these pixel halo's are result of saving a smaller jpg, or over sharpening? any thoughts? i used that action that rene suggests.

Say Mike,
Both photo galleries are most interesting...You definitely present the entertainers in a very good light...
Leo Kotkke certainly can pick a guitar...I last saw him back in 1971-72...
Rene', hopefully might have some interesting input regarding the pixel halos...
FYI:
Regarding each Gallery links: the actual type set text "Fonts" appear larger than the spacings...It could be my newer Dell computer might not be recognizing the actual Fonts, and their sizes... I haven't noticed this problem on my older much more expensive Dell computer ever before...Maybe I need to import/install a very large selection of "Fonts"...

What 'pixel halos' are we talking about?
What I see around the watermark for instance is jpg artefacts...

the top picture; i'm seeing them around his face and the microphone.

Not too bothersome to me, but you might want to back off the Manyk a bit... Try what sharpening stage creates them, and set that a bit back.
