Hi Guys and Gals,
I've used a Canon AE1 for more years then I care to remember and I have loved it to death! But the time has come for me to move on into the digital world. I already have a "cheapie" Fuji but would really like a full blown TTL.
My question is - do Canon have a digital camera with a suitable lens converter that will allow me to use my existing range of Canon FD lenses? I don't want to have to start splashing out again when I already have an excellent range of quality lenses.

There are converters that allows you to use the FD lenses on EOS cameras, but they can never use one of the major advantages...... the autofocus as well as the closing of the aperture. Canon's autofocus system is in the camera as well as in the lens and the aperture is handled electronically, so decide for yourself if you want to keep on focussing manually and use the M-setting.

Cheers Peter - that's actually good news to me. I've never been a fan of autofocus and would always want full control as I'm quite in to differential focusing. So - the digital EPOS sounds like a winner for me! :)

There was a similar discussion on this forum a couple of months ago but I can't find it anymore doing a search.
However, you might find this link interesting: http://www.usefilm.com/photo_forum/17/2676/canon_manual_FD_lens.html

Ta Leo,
I did try a search myself looking for FAQ's etc but with not a lot of success. I'll look at that link now ...

Hmmm .... that's certaily given me something to think about! :? Now I'm not so sure.
Taking on the points from the article posted, it seems I'd be better off building a new digital system thus leaving myself with the best of both worlds.
Thanks for that link Leo.

Liney,
Trying to use your FD lenses on an EOS system is not a great solution.
The adapters that exist are usefull for those that have spent multithousand doolars on an FD 800mm prime or other such investment and hate to give it up,. but trying to use the adapters with your more "run of the mill" lens is more trouble than it is worth.

Well that's settled it then! :?
The digital EOS it will be and then start my collection of new lenses. As I said - best of both worlds! :)
Thanks for that input CDS.
