Agreed. I like the way the bride is lit but the different lighting on the groom kinda creates a disharmony I think.

The bride looks almost elf-like which I think is very attractive and makes her special in this picture. I don't think I could improve her lighting any better - it's perfect. The background shading is right on to my tastes.
Now the groom.... he looks stiff, and with that kind of lighting almost looks like a cardboard cutout because of the amount of flash he is receiving. I can see a slight shadow behind him. Now mind you, this is not a bad picture, but perhaps if the flash output were 1/3 to 1/2 stop less, he would look less "pasted" into the scene. She is cute though.....;) - Stu

My first thought was 'his leg is posed awkwardly' and my second was 'awe, she looks a little fairy-elfish' haha, i think it's her bangs - I love the background and think the lighting on the bride is beautiful!

Isn't it funny how tastes differ... I love the background like Stu, but I also love the way the groom is projected from the background. It is that high impact, with a differing PP to bring out more saturation in colours, that could be a focal point in a room with a big framed print.
By the same token, if the aim was to appear more natural, then it would not be so good.
Personally, I like it.

Unless he normally walks like that, it looks too posed/girly the way his leg is... that is the only thing that struck me "off". The rest of the shot is fantastic-

The diagonal composition is good. His effeminate stance is not good. And, the accent line, around the image layer, has a color that doesn't seem to have been picked from the image. Given how the image looks, I would have gone for a 1 pixel stroke with a color from her face.

But what about the most important opinion of them all..... the client's? If they love the shot, then everything expressed here is just second banana.

What gets me is an old acting rule: Never lead with your stage front leg, it closes you off to the audiece.
It works kind of the same way here, he looks to be closing himself off to the viewer of the photo which he's trying to correct by stifly turning his torso. It might not have happened if his left leg was the forward leg.
I think he also looks a little stiff all around, his hand looks almost fist like, and his facial expression dosn't match her nice anticipation look at all.
I love the setting and the lighting on her though, she looks good.

Maybe he's already thinking about the photography bill....

Beside his legs, I don't like that she has her hand in her face, the hand towards the camera.

:) Am I the only one that finds that the groom seems to be dancing a-la Riverdance ;) He just needs to place his hands on his hips! Sorry, couldn't resist!
Seriously though, I'd like to know what is behind the pose. Why such a different choice (different is good ;), but often requires explanation :p)

IS the groom doing a dance for the bride?
