Yeah, that baby duck is sure enjoying something.

There is too much unused space in this photo. All that grass on the lower right is quite distracting.

In addition, the most interesting subjects are covered by grass and aren't really enjoyable to look at. I think that the flash that you used gives it a strange feeling as well. Sunlight would have been helpful here.

For a situation like this it is nice to use the high speed burst which you would not have been able to use because of the flash. The more pictures you can get of several moving subjects like this the better. I also get the feeling in many of your pictures that you are using the LCD screen when you are taking your pictures. If you look through the glass viewfinder and halfway depress the shutter release, you can come A LOT closer to getting the shot that you intended to get. The LCD lag and the shutter lag together create a difficult situation when photo'ing this type of subject.

High Speed Burst at night? I might be dead wrong but i do suspect that this photo was shot at night. Unless HSB means something other than a high speed shot in drive mode and if so i would very much like to know what.

What i realy dont like about this shot is the flash which was necessary but imo it creates too much burned surfaces.

It is pretty clear that this was taken at night and with a flash Warman. That is why I said that HSB would not have been possible. It is a recommendation based on some of Gail's other works. Maybe I wasn't clear.

Or just notch it up to ISO 25,600 and HSB would work fine.

This shot was taken in the day time around 3: PM that evening. I don't no what made it come out looking so badly, guess me lol. didn't no what I was doing. I think I shot this in the P mode. I took some the same day of my grandbaby that didn't take very well either they blurred really bad. I think I posted them on here a while back asking what I did wrong. These were taken back when I first got my G3. And it was all very new to me.

LOL, dead wrong then. :)

I have no idea what you did wrong but probably the place you were at was very in the shade and using flash made it look like night time.
Anyway, the problem is greatly composition as most of the light problems can be corrected by using photoshop.

Warman,
Here is one that was taken the same day. It came out a little clearer than the other one. I just thought it was cute with the little baby ducklings.
Sweet babies, But the mama, did get after me one time I had to run for my life,, lol it was so funny and my daughter was with me and it came at her really bad she had to really run, it tried to bite her I laugh, so hard I almost pee...my self. That's one day I wish I had a video camera that could have been the best funniest video, she even fell down trying to get away from the ugly thing lol... I still think about it today and get to laughing. Guess we were getting to close, to her babies.

Before I critique the picture...........Lets get something straight and it has been bothering me.

Its "KNOW", not "NO".............

Okay.......now I can move on.

The pic doesn't display your subjects very well. The faces are hidden and the night time atmosphere didn't add anything to the scene. The flash should've been turned off............

Nature shots are better with natural light anyways...........I think flash makes it un"nature"al :-)

Oh well............

Hey........no need to be upset. I am in no way mocking you. I just realized that its been a consistent error and I just wanted to address it.

If you feel that I am being a "smart ass" then I urge you to continue and spell it as you see fit.

As they say "Take it or leave it"

Again I'm sorry if I offended you. And I'll be more sorry if I see you leave this forum - as your photography has really improved since you first started.

We wouldn't want you to leave the forum. That is never good.

I still wish that you would share photos in the "Share Photos" section. It would really be more to your benefit if you posted shots that you thought were really awesome here in "Critique Corner".

Now that you have progressed so far, we need to see what you think is good so that we can tell you why its bad. That is, after all, how you get better.

And, if you want us to point out blatant grammatical flaws in a private message, we would be glad to. Just let us know, otherwise we will just shut up and try to interpret.

By "we" I mean "me"
