30cm of snow in the past couple of days so I did not think that I'd get a chance to try out the new lens. This young doe was very helpful and did not pay any attention to the fool in the truck

Hey, the picture changed. What'd you do? Crop it?

In any case, that's a cute doe. Or is it a fawn? Sure has a lot of fur on it, though, huh?

:)

Leo,
Looked at it and decided to crop it. Bad habit of mine is not cropping and leaving stuff that should not be in.
I would have to guess that she is 2 years old. There was a fawn to the left and behind her that I could not get a shot of.
Been very cold up here and the deer have good thick coats right now.
Heading up into the Parks tomorrow for a couple of days. Hopefully the deer are a little more active there.

I'm wondering what Gitzo thinks of this deer you have?

A combination of jealousy and lust.

Also, Ian, I notice a tendency on your part to photograph animals from the rear. First the squirrel, and now the deer. Only the dog seems lethargic enough for you to get a decent head shot of it. Is this a quality of yours, or of the animals in Canada?

ROTFLMAO! I should guessed you'd say something like that. By the way, we need to revive your Hello Kitty 10D. I think it would be an interesting blend to the alrealdy ludicris posts. :)

Ian, what is your take on this one?

I have never had any luck sneaking up on a deer, or a woman for that matter, head on. It might be the presence of the the monsterous white thing hanging around my neck that scares both of them off ( camera lens Tom...camera lens)
Seriously though, every time I ask a person or animal if I can take their picture, the response is " Ahhhh..kis my a**"
Thus, one of the reasons I aquired Gitzo but as you can see, he makes little difference. Too ugly to kiss I guess.
As for the dog, she doesn't really care anymore as long as I don't eat too much of her kibble.

As long as he does not have to share blanket or food he really doesn't care. Not that he has a leg to stand on if I decided to bring her home.

Trivia question:

What is Gitzo's favorite Star Trek episode?

Answer: The Trouble with Triples

I didn't have the heart to tell him it was actually Tribbles.

Ian:
This still doesn't explain why your pooch is so approachable. Hmmm.

I wonder if I can put one of those lenses on my Hoyt Bow or Remington 270?

I think I'd rather shoot the deer with something other than a camera. The darn things literally decimate my yard and devour everything!

Nice picture though...

see Scottes just below your post.
Drugs do not work on cats. However a Stanley 16lb sledge can do the trick
(now every feline lover is going to be on my case  )

Moses,
I am sure that the chap who owns the yard that the deer is having the picnic in is thinking the same thing
Lucky for the deer that there has not been a hunting season for the past 5 years up on the mountain. They are pretty tame as wild deer go.
