I need honest opinions..is this picture ruined by bad tennis shoes?? I happen to love the location, the sky, the bride but the tennis shoes have thrown me off! They were married on the beach with no shoes and these were all he brought for the reception! This is an older picture ..I was updating my website and was wondering if this pic is usable or if I should hide it away:D ... Kim A.

Wasn't the first thing that I noticed about the picture but once you point it out I can see why it'd be a bother.. why was he wearing tennis shoes? :p

thanks for the opinions guys...I guess he really liked the shoes..like I said they were barefoot during the ceremony..I guess he didn't think much about pictures after the ceremony..most of the pics I took that day I tried to hide his feet but this one I guess I forgot..

the shoes bug me as well... maybe some serious clone magic and turn them all black would help?.. but the lines in the background annoy me a little bit as well... something about the walls..

I do agree..thats why this picture has been hiding away..I was never quite sure if I liked it or not..My husband is also a photographer and he dosen't like it at all! oh well..it is such a neat old building..

The shoes only bothered me after you pointed them out. Incidentally i'd have put them a bit further to the right of the frame, but the arch is well positioned.

I didn't notice the shoes until you said something. I don't think they they look GOOD, but I don't think they ruin the photo

Thanks Tim and Lindsi...I think its probably OK for my website..just not a 11X14 enlargement!! :)

the second thing I noticed was the shoes and was like huh,,
making them black would fix it.

The first was the blue sky which is why I'm kinda so-so on it.
I don't care for pictures where I have to hunt for the message.

I personally don`t like the shoes, but it was their day, even for a man, he would have known he was going to have his photo taken.

I think that as you are using a picture for a website/portfolio, it is fine to use this one. it is a well taken picture, and it is no fault of the photogs that the dude wore sneakers.

i would use it to demonstrate your abilities, and not worry about the clumsy dress of your subjects. Not a bad shot all in all

Sorry, I have to go with the "don't like the shoes" brigade. They jumped out at me. I know the B&G can wear anything they like (?) but when the Bride is wearing a full traditional wedding dress, he just looks like someone that happened to be passing! :-(

Just a quick go (not perfect by any means - but it gives an idea)

Cloning the shoes black really helps the shot a lot and makes it work a lot better.

In the original, the shoes would have caused me to "hide it away".

To answer your question. Yes, it's the first thing I noticed. Thank God for PS :-)

Making the shoes black helps, and the blue sky is beautiful, but for some reason I'm not fond of the image personally. I wish I could figure out why :(

I like the shoes black better. They look soooo much better. The pose is great. I would have pulled them out from the wall a bit. The stark white of the wall emphasizes the lines of the shadows. Maybe now that the shoes are fixed make it a b/w shot? You could try it.

Thanks for all of the opinions everyone..Thanks Teejay..I like the edit...I think I'll work on it in photoshop a bit and see what I can come up with

Thanks Kim, BTW, I found it looked better, when the shoes were black, to also "lengthen his trousers" so his bear leg wasn't showing (just seemed to look better) :-)

I actually like the shoes..maybe not for a website...but I think it adds a little flare..a bit of personality....shows your clients are comfortable and had fun on the shoot...that's my 2cents

I did not notice the shoes at first, but they are bit out of place as everyone else mentioned. I love the arch though.

the shoes dont bother me that much but maybe that's because I know how it is here on maui and I actually know the couple so it's not weird at all. I think the edit does make it look more normal to the rest of the world though :)

Thanks everybody! Joanna...you are right..I think we are used to being so informal here! That why I was debating using the pic at all because the rest of the world does not understand us here in Hawaii!! lol

Hi all, sorry for digging up an old thread (new member here).

I think the shoes is what makes the shot. But I don't think it's suitable as publicity shot to be shown on a website or gallery. If the groom dressed like that, let it be. I don't think Photoshopping it then posting on a website is a good idea. I think altering it will be a great shame and make the shot less interesting.

Just my 2 pence worth.

interesting point. I wouldn't photoshop it and give it to the bride and groom but why not post it on the web? Noone else would know.

Well...I haven't used it on my website...I just couldn't decide..If I do decide to use it I will probably leave it as is. Thanks for the opinions and advice...Thanks, Kim A.
