I had been using an old Vivitar flash (checked to make sure it wouldn't fry the camera first, of course) but I had been getting rather frustrated because I had to shoot Manual to use it. I ended up missing a lot of shots, and ended up with an entire 'shoot' for my family portrait being way under-exposed, because SOMETHING must have changed after I got it set and joined the picture.
After that, I decided it was time to pick up a 430EX. I got one from www.samsclub.com (http://www.samsclub.com) for $242 plus shipping/taxes. It was a bit cheaper at B&H (couple bucks, plus a few bucks for taxes) but this way I could use my Sam's card. ;)
So far I'm really impressed. I think this is going to make a HUGE difference to my photography. I'm loving it so far! :D
