The above are crops from an ISO 1600 shot. Canon 10D 300mm f/4L IS + Canon 1.4 t.c. Image cropped and Noise Ninja'd. No other processing done. I know this isn't a great photo. I used it to show the effects of the noise filtering.

Bottom line: I am very pleased with the program. I saw an earlier thread that mentioned it's weakness. i.e. it's a stand alone program not a plug-in. But that's o.k. with me.

My question is: Where does it fit in the digital workflow? I am using it immediately after converting from RAw, so all my follow on adjustments aren't being applied to noise pixels. Is this the right way to do it?

Always apply noise reduction first. You are quite right about avoiding any adjustments being made to the noise as well as 'good' data. Sharpening should be the last step of the process.

Thanks Kenny, that's what I figured.

I don't have noise Ninja, but do use neat image. I have done the noise reduction both before and after after. I have found that sometimes noise will increase after adjusting levels and stuaration. So sometimes I will make all adjustments and clean up the final image...Dean
