I shot my first real outdoor portrait session. Did the best I could. Was by myself and it was too windy and cold for lots of reflector work.

Not sure either, but I like it!
edit: maybe if her tongue was more in the center of her mouth, rather than off to the side.

I know what her mouth is doing, but not sure if it was captured exactly right.

You should tell her to wear a flesh colored bra under a white shirt if she doesn't want it to be seen. I found the straps down on her arms distracting.

All underexposed. Spot metering would have helped.

disagree.
Think these are very well done, given the lighting and dress chosen. I would love to see more from her. Only thing I can say is be careful of her hips orientation to the camera, some angles make them look really really large.

I have to disagree also, they look spot on with my monitor. Great stuff, pretty model...

Great shots - think you should move them into the glamour section as they are pretty hot !

Hey mate, good shots not bad for a first try, but in almost all shots, just under her right eye you can see the tonal difference between what appears to be the real skin? and the healing brush work that it looks like you've undertaken - or is it makeup?
Did you take to her face with the healing brush? :)
or is it a natural skin condition? eitherway, it's visible.
Need another pair of hands for reflection work as it's visible that lighting could've been better.
Good stuff, Keep going.

Gorgeous Model, and the shots are pretty good too.
Edit #1 is my favourite

Nice shots. #1 has a bit too much face for me. Her bra showing through is a little tacky. In #4 she should be turned around so more stream could be seen.
And were you using a fill flash? If you were it wasn't strong enough and if you weren't you should have been. :) Her face is too dark in just about every shot.

Very attractive girl. The bright white top takes away from the photo, and I agree that the bra and strap are somewhat distracting. The same shots with different clothing would really bring out the model and your highlight your photography skills. Still some very impressive work. Keep shooting.

Thanks for your comments. I am here to learn. But I am proud of these shots.
I was trying to stay out of the streaky sunlight, so we did intentionally get in the shade. Then I used a 580EX with tupperware to break that up a bit.
There was some talk of underexposure, and need for a SPOT METER. Can someone tell me more about what it would do for me, and which one to buy?

Hi there, thats a much much deeper question, generally either a good or really good meter will have or can take a spot attachment however I dont think your ready to go down that road just yet. Any meter, taking a reading directly infront of her face would have done the job for you.
When you start going down the spot meter road, I think you would be better off getting rid of your camera and buying one with spot metering built in.
I have a minolta flashmeter 5, and I have the spot meter with it, I dont think I have taken it out of its case (the spot atachment) for about 5 years but I would not get rid of it either !
You can also do a lot with photoshop to fix your photos, here is a quick 60 second edit - this ended up as 4 layers (and there are many many other ways to do it)
Now I know it all sounds a bit OTT but welcome to the world of DIGITAL photography.
