Hi everyone, I am considering a lighting kit from Alienbees.com and have a few questions,

I am fairly new to lighting, is this setup any good for shooting a car during day time?
Am I missing anything, should I order any additional stuff? softboxes etc?
These fellas are portable right? You charge them @ home and bring them out to location? Or do you have to buy additional batteries?
Should I upgrade to B800's?

TIA

This would be a better kit for you...
http://www.alienbees.com/intergalactic.html

400s are too small, I would get AB800 or AB1600 units for outdoor shooting.
No you CANT charge them, you need a battery pack... Vagabond Portable Power System
You can get away with brollys only, but a softbox would be nice..But unless you have a lot of time to assemble, disassemble them after a shoot, id stick to brollys b/c there fast and easy to work with.

You will also need a Light Meter, I recommend a Sekonic L-358

Note: Intergalactic kit is more than you need.... But thats just for example.

Its got bigger lights, and the battery pack. You dont NEED a 3rd light, but you can add some nice effects with it...

If you are strapped for cash, forget the 3rd light, and INVEST it into a good light meter. You not going on location w/o a battery either... unless you got really long extension cords and AC power.
