Which is the fastest to download onto a laptop?
1 via a USB 2 Card reader or
2 useing a PCMIA card adaptor.

On the laptop go with the PCMCIA,. as it is nothing extra to carry! (the reader just lives in the slot)
If you get the Cardbus 32bit PCMCIA it is faster than USB2... but performance won't be much different because both are faster than any card out there.
For non "cardbus" Adapters,. there seems to be a large descrepency from one users experience to anothers. I have an ancient P266 laptop without "cardbus" and yet I get super fast downloads using a PCMCIA CF reader,. and yet I know a few people that have much newer laptops and with a non Cardbus adapter they get barely faster than USB1??
No idea why this would be true,. PCMCIA should be very fast.
Anyway,. to guarantee high speed PCMCIA find the Cardbus adapter. :)

"Cardbus" is a spec.. it's like the difference between ATA-66 and ATA 133... it simply means a faster version of PCMCIA interface.

They are a bit pricey,. the standard ones are only about $18.00 so you pay a lot for the higher speed. (i've seen them for as low as $8.00)

I have a USB 2.0 PCMIA adapter on my laptop. To that I've hooked up a bunch of peripherals, but mainly my USB 2.0 Compact Flash reader. I get very fast read/write speeds with this setup.
