I took this last summer, my first black and white semi-"portrait" that I really like. Taken on a dock, in daylight. ISO 100 and taken back when I knew nothing about what aperture, ISO, shutter speed or good lighting meant.

Be Harsh. I can take it. :)

Just played around with some slight border PP on one of the images.

One half is great the other a little burnt out to white difficult shot. looks as if the sun was on one half. I like the intimate feel of the shot. But i think maybe getting down to eye level and moving them into the shade would have gave you a killer shot but thats just my opinion.

I want your opinion!! Thank you. I am never afraid of hearing criticism; I look for it! I agree with evertyhing you said. Eye level probably would have worked better.

I am always a fan of dogs in photos. I agree--eye level would have given you a better view of both. Not sure what the background would've been then, though.

Yeah, probably just the beach...or I could have shot the other way and saw the water/mountains. Should have done that. Thanks for the comment.

I would have liked to see the shot a few steps to the right. Not quite eye level.

One suggestion is to take a ton of pictures. Vary the angles, light settings, elevation, heck, whatever you can try! With the huge storage capacity of our high tech cameras, no reason not to take a lot to get that one perfect shot.
