Didn't they have a rebate going for it? They did for all the other products like the lenses and flashes to move them faster off the shelves before PMA 2004.

GRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Lets not discuss the Canon rebates right now shall we!

//I though I was going to get a $150.00 rebate,. there was a list of printers and Cameras,. and the s400 was one of them

Turns out the "COMBINATION" was all important

If I had bought the i960 with the S400,. I
had have gotten $100.00 back...

Wihh the i9100 I needed to have gotten the G5.. and only the G5 to get the $150.00

As it was in that month,. I had gotten the S400, i9100, AND the 70-200mm IS.. and I was not eleigible for anyy f the printer reabtes with that combo.. (meanwhile I also own the i950 and all the other Canon stuff!!!!!)

Oh well.....

So what's with Canon USA and the fact that there are no Canon printers to be had here which will print on CDs and DVDs?

The European version of the i9900 is the i9950 and it prints on CDs and DVDs.

Just curious, how does one feed the CD or DVD through the printer? I think there are software that will print on some special sticker papers that you can stick onto CD or DVD after printing on it.

My Canon i560 manual said it can print T-shirts. I wonder how a t-shirt can be feed through that printer.

Since I don't have one, I can't give you the specifics but there's a special tray that the CD or DVD sits on so that the printer can print directly on to a special "inkjet printable" CD or DVD.

And, as far as printing on a T-Shirt is concerned, you have to print on a special paper which is then ironed on to the T-shirt to have the print transfered from paper to shirt. But who knows, maybe there's one where you actually do feed the t-shirt through the printer.

How about a wall paper printer! :D:wink::D Look out Trading Spaces  (Trading Spaces is a show where people take a weekend and redecorate a room in a friends home while they do the reverse.) A printer as this would allow some really bad and really good designs. I can imagine a special adapter that lets you print directly on the walls!

... My European i9100 does this as well. :D :D

Seriously, I saw an advert recently for a company that would turn artwork/photos etc. into wallpaper. You could specifiy the wall size and whether you wanted one big image (made up onto individual rolls) or a reoccuring pattern on rolls.

I really like that idea, you could have a lot of fun....

Does anyone want to hazard a guess when (and if) we'll see the new 8 ink system in smaller canon printers (printing sizes up to A4)? I'd really like to get a i9900 - but in Australia it will most likely list at $1199 (which is the current list for the i9100). Considering our dollar is around .79US, this to me seems a complete rip off. The pricing for other printers is no better, but currently there top of the line a4 photo printer lists around $599, which is much more in my budget. I'm considering getting a printer soon, but I could hold off for a couple of months, especially if it'd seem that canon would mostly likely be releasing more printers with the 8 ink system

I live in Australia too. I'm looking for a printer ranging up to $600.
