Thanks David. Yes that one got allot of comments when it was posted to the radio stations web site. A couple of the jocks even got 11x17 prints for their offices. The comment that stands out from the radio station is how the light shines through the opening between his arm and body. In the full set there is a couple similar but with color lights rather then just white. This is the same club allot of my stuff is shot at but these guys brought like 6 Mac 25, I call them robot lights, thats what the light behind him is, they are incredible and very expensive I'm told.

yup agree. hope z-man got paid for those 11x17s. that's a money worthy shot.

hey z, these are among your first, then the sam roberts represent your more recent.

so tell us, what would you do differently now if you had to shoot that show again?

To be honest I am not sure what I would do different. Both the shows had fantastic lighting for a small club that both bands brought with them. I am still using the same equipment with the exception of the thrifty fifty. I think the big thing I would have done different would be shot more pictures. I think I shot 120 pictures total for both the main act and two opening. I shot a show two nights ago for Edwin of I Mother Earth fame with two openings and shot 345 total. I think that is the biggest change for me, besides being more confident talking to the bands before and after the shows and making my way around during the show. I think I have a better sense of where to position myself and to for see what the artist are going to do in advance. Talking to the opening bands after they perform and introducing myself, getting contact info and letting them know that I have the shots and will make the available to them. One more thing, I go to the shows early and I get to enter before the doors open, (not everyone will have this ability) this way I get a look at the stage setup. If anything is not right I ask to change it, like a couple weeks ago the black back drop had a big gap in the middle that would have looked like crap in pics and the band would never have noticed. But the venue was quite happy to help me close the gap. I have also got to know the local lighting guys that do all the shows and feel comfortable asking then to tone down the frontal red light some times so I can get non-red shots. They laugh at me know and call me the Mr. anti-red. lol I give them copies of pictures as well if they ask for them. I do see now the limitations of my lenses and will be working on getting some L series replacements in the coming year.

Now remember I have only been doing this for 5 months now so i am as much a rookie as anyone on here. I still come here most every day looking for tips and tricks from the masters myself.

Nice ... could you put the venue in your titles in the future, too? :-) BTW, we all have very high expectations of you now!
