I spent a very enjoyable day out in the Lake District today with Simon Harrison and Petrolhead (Peter). Also stumbled across IanH at lunchtime. A pleasure as always chaps :)

Simon & Peter were both trialling new kit, however i had to make do with my rusty old tools so you'll have to excuse the rubbish that follows ;)

Matthew Wilson in a 2006 Ford Focus WRC. We were under the impression he was acting as Course Car for this event but the official results list him as 1st in class & 1st overall..

Marcus Noble & Helen Hall in a MK2 Ford Escort.

Lets see if we can wake Glenn up with a Sunbeam or 2 ;)

This one didn't look too healthy on the 1st stage, however when we saw it again later it was looking much better.

Thanks for looking in, C&C welcome as always.

The gallery should be online via the link in my sig as soon as the Fotopic mob return from whatever pub they seem to be in at the moment.

Nice work, Geoff; thanks for the Sunbeams although the second one looks a little worse for wear... glad to hear it improved!

Thanks for the comments everyone :)

For anyone who is interested in such matters, the 3 vertical shots are with the Sigma 70-200 f2.8 and the MK2 Escort was taken with the now infamous Sigma 120-300 f2.8 all on the 20D :)

Great shots guys, there are about a dozen of us POTN members living in the area and it looks like not one of us turned out, the weather has been awful lately so I guess that's an excuse for us all. Might be there next time.

Love the portrait shot of the Talbot. Just sums the day up

I too really like the first shot. The last shot looks like that fellow is going through a little bit of oil. Good luck finishing the stage I say.

I also like your portrait shots Geoff, great stuff with the scenery, the only problem with the first one is that all that water is going to run out of the lake at that angle;) :D

Cheers
Ian

I like the shots a lot, have you considered editing the first photo to remove the blue object to the left of the rear wheel? I think it is distracting from what could be a great ad for Ford.

fabulous pictures of the older rally cars, and the first picture is stunning. Awesome scenery in the Grizedale Forest

Wow, Christmas thread revival :D

Thanks for the new comments. As for the blue object ( a spectator) well if Ford want to pay to use it in an ad i'll clone him out...i might even straighten the shot up :D

<Thread back from the dead>...

I've just recieved an A2 print of this from Photobox.co.uk. After a bit of straightening and cropping to size it looks very nice indeed. So if anyone is looking for larger prints they're worth a try :)

It's going to be framed and will have pride of place in my "office".

<End of public service announcement> ;)
