The first fully processed photo I have taken with my new 24-105 F/4L IS. My grandma came around to my house for a visit. As she was leaving, I showed her the new lens and snapped this photo.

Good Job. You know what ? We all take pictures of our kids and the younger people in our lives, but we rarely take pics of our older people, just as they are. But when they're gone ( and I hope your Gran stays around for many more years) we don't have anything at all of them. Or if we do, its of them in the background, not looking, or out of focus. I learnt that the hard way and now make a point of nagging people to do exactly what you've done. And did she like the lens?

Thanks for the comments. She thought the lens was "rather large" :).

I love it - everything except for the car in the background.

How about this then? I also changed the levels.

Nice job, Gandma looks like a sweetie. Really like the second crop.

My mom is probably about her age and NEVER likes any pictures of herself- she doesn't even let anyone but me take them, she knows I will erase if she asks- and now she lets me keep some-
Its so hard for women as we get older
Your grandma is beautiful!

Lol, I don't think my grandma likes seeing all the wrinkles. :) I haven't shown her this one yet, I might do that sometime later today.
EDIT: I'll actually print it...

You know what, thats a stunning image. The detail is amazing. I also like the DOF and dont really mind the car in the background either. I would take it into photoshop and lighten up the face just a tad as it just needs a little more pop. really great photo.

i prefer the first version, the car is out of focus, and puts grandma in one third so to speak, and also without the crop, the wrinkles are not so pronounced, more natural. Whatever, i prefer the first.

i also prefer the 1st one,
it kinda tells a story, even if the car isn't hers ;)
