View Full Version : HELP PETKAL EXPLORE PLANET "DUMP" (CONTEST)
PetKal
9th of December 2006 (Sat), 23:28
In the end we seem to dump legally and otherwise everything that we create. Where else can our trash go, other than getting recycled, but somewhere on the planet ?
We trash school buses, shopping carts, intercontinental warheads, shoes and bycycles, railroad ties, boats and ships.......
That's the subject of this contest.......the most unexpected, funniest and most environmentally sad, inexplicable and routine...the odd trash around us.
At the same time , I shall ask you to stay within the bounds of an established sense of good taste, keeping in mind the fact that this is an all age channel. Also, your posts should not be incriminatory of practices of any specific and/or identifiable individuals, peoples, ethnic groups or corporate entities, and such.
So let us explore this Planet "Dump" with our cameras.
We have till tomorrow night 23:00 hrs EST to submit the entries, which gives us almost 24 hrs.

There is something about shopping carts in the place I live. One can find them discarded in the most unlikely places....as if it is some kinda ritual. These two ended up in a brook in a natural conservation area west of Toronto.

I could fill a thread with archive shots from my "American Dream" project! Here are a couple of untweaked snaps from an event that occurs twice a year- end of semester dorm evacuation. Best ones are on my office computer and already in the video.

The thing that bothers me most is the willful destruction that takes place during these times. Brand new tvs and computers are bashed beyond use, buttons are cut from clothing, clothing slashed. . . . consumer goods that could have found anice home in myriad places are destroyed and dumped in bins, along streets, in the creeks and culverts outside town instead of donated to any local organization or family.

GMT? It sounds like some sort of technical school they advertise on television. So what if we think everyone should suck it up and switch to EST? It's the time of New York City, the best city in the world, or something like that.
So I do like farming, what's wrong with that? I know how to provide for myself in case of a serious emergency[like SARS] I won't ship any of my e coli./mad cow free products out to you. So, hah. Hah on you.

Well spoken, Shuttered kid !
I repeat, the center of our Universe is aligned on the Miami-NYC-Toronto axis. Left and right of the axis we find redneck states and badland provinces, former colonies and sugarcane protectorates, archaic/puppet kingdoms like San Marino, Monaco and UK, primogenitura dictatorial states like Sweeden and Gruzia.

(1) The overall winning spot is shared by JCR, Ayotnoms and James aka Neil-R.
(2) The "trash in nature" juxtaposition award is shared by Webby, prolific Permagrin, Zuckerzebra and Moppie.
However, Moppie is a "primus inter pares" here, for he has captured a fine message thru exceedingly simple means.
(3) The fearful nature of trash award is shared by Woolbie (not for that payphone !;) ) and Conduit.
(4) The societal commentary award is shared by Woo Wee and Shuttered kid.
(5)The artful side of trash award goes to Ollipath for his missing screw.
