Seriously, I don't have an EOS camera, but I plan to eventually. Being so, I read this forum now and agian, and would like to offer a sincere thank you to all of the knowledgeable people here. I learn a lot browsing through here, and a large portion of it can even be apllied to my humble G2.

The atmosphere in this forum seems to be more laid back, and dare I say (yes, I dare) the people in here contain a bit more wit, and have a greater sense of humor than in the other forums. Intelligence abounds, and ignorance is often defeated swiftly. Thank you all for the entertaining reading.

Maybe someday I'll be able to interact legitimately, engaging in the witty banter I find so amusing, once I own a nice pretty DSLR.

Hats off EOS users.

Hey Laz ~ a large welcome to you.

That was a pretty impressive display

But no need to wait till you get a pretty DSLR...

Not having an EOS camera yet you would not know that wit, humor, and intelligence are a chapter in the EOS manuals. The laid back atmosphere comes from our huge trust funds which we can draw from, to live on, while buying any piece of equipment we wish to. These qualities also come from our Ivy League educations and the numerous coctail parties with political, musical and movie luminaries.

9 out of 10 doctors recomend an EOS camera.

Great post Chris.

Well, what a jolly nice post Chris, nice try, but it won't cut the ice with me.

I've already been calling about all the dealers in your area to ensure you will never be able to buy an EOS. If you can turn out shots like you do with the G2, I really don't want you to get your hands on an EOS.

Get back in your hutch.

Cheers

Ian

P.S. Welcome, by the way :D

Laz, as Rob mentioned, the EOS-D cocktail parties are very cool. Drop me a PM if you ever trek down to DC / Northern VA.

Hey, Laz, as a would-be Digital EOS owner, you have all the rights to participate in this forum right now and make your own contributions of wits, intelligences and some banters. No need to wait to get one in your hand first.

However, we do ask of you one thing. When some newbie 10D or 300D owner asks what wide angle lens they should get for his new camera, before you reply with "Kenko .72x" or whatever, be sure the letters and the numbers are specified correctly and in the correct order. One thing we don't tolerate here are inaccuracies in letters and numbers and the order they come in.

  :D

Welcome aboard and be sure to tighten your seatbelt....but not so tightly that you won't be able to laugh. :)

Laz - I took a somewhat different route, but I also read this forum frequently prior to buying my 10D. Granted, I had the S-400, but the bulk of my "photography" (and I use the term loosely), up until about 2 weeks ago, was with my Elan II. I've learned much about the equipment and its use here in the EOS forum. Quite a bit of it applied to the Elan.

OK. We will forgive you if you get the Powershot Pro 1. At least you'll have "L" glass then. 8)

Sorry, gang. I missed this thread because I was out buying a new computer this morning. Great fun----they're getting so cheap now.

I'm familiar with this Laziferous guy. He's been hanging around in the 'Share Photos' board with Marie. I would expect him to have a highly developed sense of humor just on the strength of that experience.

I'm sure it was my railroad photos that brought him out of the closet.

He's actually quite a good photographer, regardless of the camera he's been using, but I don't want anyone to tell him I aired those sentiments publicly. It's important that he come into the DSLR board maintaining an appropriate degree of humility. Accordingly, we need to rebuff him periodically lest he develop the mistaken impression that we’re all about fun and not emotionally invested in the highly technical business of taking pictures with our expensive cameras and professional lenses. As a group, we often wrestle with complex issues such as ‘NEWBIE QUESTION---WHICH LENS TO BUY?’ This is not easy stuff.

Don’t encourage him. I’m not going to.

Hope to see more of you here. You don't have to own a DSLR. You only have to be interested in them.

Hmmm... I'm not so sure... We all know that it isn't the patience, practice and talent that's important, but the size of your equipment that makes you a man (or a woman in some cases)! :D

All kidding aside... Laz, you are always welcome here (funny, until this thread, I always thought you posted here regularly). Your work is awesome! I wish many of my images could compare favorably with the work I've seen you post.

By the way, isn't there a "right of passage" test Chris has to undergo to be counted as an "official" member of the EOS Digital camera forum? What was that test again? Oh, yes, I remember now. He's got to write an essay in 100 words or less why Ansel Adams is the greatest photographer of all times! :?

Optional subject 1:
Should Ansel Adams have waited and used a digital SLR instead? (again, in 100 words or less).

Optional subject 2:
Should Ted Turner colorize Ansel Adams photographs?

this a great forum, with a knowlegable bunch(not me!). just don't
call it a D10. oh yeah, when you do buy a DSLR, make sure it's
BLACK. i live in the closet with the rest of the silver camera owners,
and it's getting crowded!

Just don't ask us "which lens should I buy?" right off the bat and you'll get along fine!

See, these replies are exactly what I mean. I can always count on you to make me chuckle... and in some cases... audibly

I forgot I even posted this until today, now I come back, and there are 20 replies. Egahds! Hmmm... I've never attempted to spell "egahds" before... probably because it isn't a word. Moving on.

Many thanks to ilya, robekert, iwatkins, slejhamer, PacAce, SoCal69, Tom W, ijohnson, Jesper, belmondo, eric1, Canuck, and CDS. Appreciate the kind replies. I feel very welcomed.

I must quickly address a few issues:
Not having an EOS camera yet you would not know that wit, humor, and intelligence are a chapter in the EOS manuals.
I promise to study that chapter vehemently once I own said manual.
Get back in your hutch.

Yes Sir.
One thing we don't tolerate here are inaccuracies
No problem. I'm perfect.
Let's get something straight. I read this forum now and again, YOU have almost 1000 posts.
Indeed I do. If you are implying I come home from work, and read these forums attempting to learn more about photography, embarassing myself with inaccurate Ansel Adams references, ignoring my wife, and producing carpal tunnel in my wrist. Well then... YOU Sir are... unfortunately correct.
I'm familiar with this Laziferous guy. He's been hanging around in the 'Share Photos' board with Marie. I would expect him to have a highly developed sense of humor just on the strength of that experience.
You've just caused me to produce one of those audible chuckles.

Oh, and feel free to rebuff me anytime, just don't tell my wife.

We all know that it isn't the patience, practice and talent that's important, but the size of your equipment that makes you a man (or a woman in some cases)!

I hope to one day have large enough equipment to be as vuluptuous a woman as yourself

I already know that one, it's the "Kenko .72x" or whatever.

Thanks guys
