dude, £300 pounds return flight to NYC - walk down and pick it up, put it in your camera bag, have a couple of days in NYC and its still better than buying it in the UK.
Either that or order it from Digital Rev oe the like on Ebay, and pay no duty!

If the swedish customs are half as clever as the danish customs they will ignore the mark "gift" and value the item themself and make you pay duty and tax on that value. When importing to Denmark the duty and tax amounts to approx 33% on top of the total price incl. shipping.

If this is the price for the IS version then I am going to order it. The last time I checked the price on the IS version it cost around $1700.
So I think it is the non-IS version.

You're kidding me. I just got the new Scandinavian Photo catalogue. The 70-200mm 2.8 L IS Usm = 19.995kr (app $2856.43)
Non-IS= 12.995kr (app. $1856.43)

Heck with those prices it's still cheaper than over here. It'd even be affordable for me if I save up the cash for a few months.

I feel your pain..
My 'total cost of ownership' (TCO: shipping, taxes, and anything else Customs want) of the 2.8 ISL version is US$1900. In stark contrast to buy the 70-200/4 ISL locally, it's $1200. The wierd part is that we seem to have gotten a price break on the f/4 version the same way the US users got more-than-fair prices on the 2.8 version.
And with your price differences....you could probably get a return air ticket to NY, like someone else said, pick up the lens, pixel peep it in person, and go home.

I feel really bad for euro dwellers, I just don't understand why stuff is soo much cheaper in the USA.
I bet for the cost difference of a Hasselblad H3D you could fly to Ney York, spend a few days in a nice hotel, get to feel and buy it in person, and fly back home while still saving quite a bit.

I could buy a few, and sell locally.
From photo.co.nz - One of NZ's lowest prices..
I was considering this lens, or my girlfriend as a fill in/ in between lens, or lightweight, compared to my 120-300
Canon EF 70-200mm f2.8 L IS USM $3,239.48
At exchange rate of 0.68, that translates to US$2202
But ouch, $2800 equiv in Sweden?!! Double ouch.
Edit: - I'm an egg. :) - So that was non IS price..
Canon EF 70-200mm F2.8 L USM $2,186.08
= US$1486..
Not as much of a difference, but still significant

Yeah, Sweden has EXPENSIVE gear. Now you all know why all my lens dreams end with tha sentense "...when I have the money..."

That's for the 39MP H3D, right? I hope that isn't for the 22MP. How much TAX/VAT/Duties/whatever is added to that?
B&H Price is $31,994.95
So if you flew into say...Boston and ordered the H3D you'd have it in a day or two, for about $32,000 after shipping. No Tax. Put it in a backback and hop back on the plane.
I know I'd do it for a good $3,000 USD.

I just checked the catalogue. That was the 22MP H3D & incl. tax. Prices in Sweden are generally quoted incl. tax (that's why I hate when I go to the US and have to add it).
I'll never buy a Hasselblad. It's the price of a downpayment on a flat. I'd rather take the flat. But at least I've held a H2D. :D
